Happy Friday

We had a great time in West Virginia.  There were lots of opportunity to hear rain pattering on the tin roof.  The house snake made an appearance and climbed high into a tree in the yard

And the Puppy got stung by a bee!  She looked like she was storing nuts in her cheek for winter.  Thankfully the swelling went down in a few hours.

She also went for a swim in the river.....though I'm not sure you could call it swimming.

It was such a quick trip this time.  We can't wait  to back in a few weeks!

sofa dreaming

I stopped into one of my favorite consignment stores for a few minutes one day last week.  I wasn't looking for anything in particular but thought it would be fun to look.  What an evil proposition for myself!  Several things caught my eye.  I'm very sad that I don't have any current projects where I could use them.  Let's pretend for a moment though.....

This is the sofa that I found.  It was only $150.00.  It was too long for any room in my house, but it has SO much potential to make someone else very happy.    It made me think of Rita Konig's sofa here:

Using her sofa as my inspiration, here's what I'm thinking:

so pretty.

Headin' for the Hills

We're off for a few days to the family cabin!  I can't wait to be swallowed up by mountains, sit on the front porch and look across the field to the river.  Very peaceful.

Front Door Blues

I've needed to repaint the front door for a while now.  I think it might actually happen this weekend.  I'm going to put a fresh coat of glossy black paint on it.  If it were a different door on a different house though, I would love it to be like this.

Bedroom Inspiration

This poster has been the inspiration for our Master Bedroom.  The colors are all off in the image above but it's the only one I've been able to find online.  All of the pinkish tint in this one is really gray in person.  It is a London & North Eastern Railway poster that was used from 1923-1947.  I think the artist's name is Freiwirth.  Ours is not an original but I love it anyway.  It was something my sweet Husband actually owned before the marriage.
We have the room about 85% complete.  I need to make a pelmet for one window and there is still a bit of furniture refinishing to be done. (Did I mention we found the PERFECT piece for the Husband's bedside table?!)  More on all of that in the near future.  Thought I'd just tease you a bit with this though.

Outdoor Spaces

Outdoor spaces have been on my mind a lot lately.  I'm currently working on an outdoor space for a client and I'm contemplating our own outdoor makeover extravaganza here at the Functional Space (more on that another day).  For now I'm going to dig deep into my inspiration files for something to spark my imagination.

Happy Birthday Rosalita!

Our Sweet Puppy is One Year Old today.  She's the best little dog in the whole wide world and we can't imagine our lives without her.

Today's Pretty

These lovely blooms were too heavy for their plants and were laying on the ground.  I think they look much happier in a vase.
