Before & After Sneak Peek

I am happy to report that I am finally on the mend from that terrible cold that had me down all last week.  Now I have a few exciting things to show you.  First up, here's a little peek at at family room project that's still in progress.  The fireplace is one of my most favorite things.  It's another reminder that I really need to do something with my own fireplace!

Here's the before:

And here is the newly paneled and painted after!

The recessed panels, silestone hearth and surround, gas logs, and brass sconces have taken this focus pulling corner fireplace and really turned it into something you want to focus on.  I also love the warm terracotta of the new wall color that really gives a lot of life to the room.

I really need to do something about my own fireplace!! Happy Monday to you.

A Kitchen & Family Room After

On Friday I got to stop by a project that's wrapping up.  It's always so exciting to see a room finished.  I snapped a few pictures.  I'm kicking myself that I didn't take a few extra minutes to style everything properly.  This may be the push I need to get a few projects photographed properly.  I had given a sneak peak of the project a few months ago which you can check out here. But I'll also remind you where we started.

And here's the view on Friday.

Here's the before from the kitchen into the family room.  The stone fireplace was the only thing we were not allowed to touch.

And the oh-so-warm and cozy after

A Little Catching Up {and a little design too!}

So things have been crazy over the last few weeks here at the Reslus Arms.  I've had my nose buried in drawings for a fab new sunroom project with my friends at HomeMasons.  I hope I can share some of that project with you eventually.

We were also dealing with a tree that fell on BOTH of our cars.

see the broken window and dent on on the wagon, ugh.

This is the third time in a year that we've been attacked by a tree. (Tree fell on my husband while driving down the interstate! Tree fell on the house but thankfully didn't do much damage) Hopefully things happen in threes and this will be the last time I have to think about it (or shop for another car!!) for a long time.

I've also been working on a beautiful new kitchen/family room project for a client.  The kitchen is being installed now and I have started to turn my attention to fabrics and furniture for the room.  The kitchen and family room area are open to each other.  Here I've whipped up a little mood board so that we can start to get a feeling for what the family room area will be like.

Of course almost everything has changed but this will give you the feeling of the space.  I'll keep you posted.  I'm very excited to see how it all turns out.

Friday Inspiration

I came across this 900sq foot addition to a Vermont cottage in Better Homes & Gardens earlier this week and completely fell in love with the architecture of the space.

It's a beautiful addition to the old stone structure.  I also really love the volume of space on the interior.

There's a great little loft space.  I also love all the white, the wood planking on the ceiling and walls, and (of course!) all the natural light in the space.  That's a pretty rockin' light fixture too.  Just beyond those doors on either side of the fireplace is a great office.

I could definitely move in there.  But my favorite design detail throughout the space is the repeat of the arc.  It's in the barrel vault and half round window at one end.  It's used on the balcony of the ledge and repeated on the fireplace hearth below.  Very graceful.

I think I could make this an AMAZING music room and office space as an addtion to my house.  How about you?

Happy Weekend Everyone!  Hope you have a great costume to wear for Halloween.
